We are writing following reports of theft from motor vehicles affecting businesses in the area of English Street, Hull.

We appreciate that incidents of this nature can be disruptive, costly, and concerning for staff and business operations and the local community. We wanted to share some crime prevention measures that may help reduce the risk of future incidents and support vehicle security.

Please consider the following advice:

• Remove all valuables from vehicles whenever possible, including tools, equipment, bags, electronic devices and paperwork

• Avoid leaving items on display — even low-value items can attract opportunistic offenders

• Ensure vehicles are locked and windows fully closed, even during short stops

• Park in well-lit, overlooked locations where available

• Consider additional vehicle security measures such as steering locks, alarm systems, CCTV coverage, tool safes, or vehicle tracking devices

• Review site security arrangements including lighting, access control, and staff awareness

• Encourage employees to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity promptly
